The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team shutout Evansville, 3-0, Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Arad McCutchan Stadium in Evansville. The Wildcats now lead the series 4-3-1.

“It is always good to get a result on the road and we look forward to really getting into conference play next week,” UK coach Warren Lipka said.

Kentucky (8-1, 1-0 SEC) found its first goal thirteen minutes into the game when Keri Boyce scored off a deflection. Boyce’s goal snapped a 320 home scoreless minute streak for the Purple Aces.

While neither team scored in the remainder of the first half, the Cats found two more goals in the second half. Annie Gage scored in the 56th minute off an Elizabeth Ramsey pass, shooting from 18 yards out. Keri Boyce scored again in the 86th minute off assists from Gage and Jen Wilkinson. Boyce now has four game-winning goals for the Cats.

Kentucky’s strong defense continued to dominate, as the Purple Aces only took two shots in the game. UK goalkeeper Beth Wells, already leading the SEC in shutouts, recorded her fourth shutout of the season.

Evansville’s (5-4-1) Tracye Burch and Jan Browne were the only two players to shoot. Goalkeeper Beth Csukas made six saves in the game.

Kentucky will travel next weekend to conference games, facing Alabama at the Alabama Soccer Complex at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, Sept. 29 and SEC Western Division leader Auburn on Sunday, Oct. 1.
