UK’s Johan Grunditz and Justin Kinney each won their quarterfinal matches on Saturday morning to advance to thesemifinals of the Ball State Fall Invitational. The semifinal matches, which had been scheduled for 1p.m., where suspendeddue to rain.
Grunditz, a junior from Hallstahammar, Sweden, defeated Illinois State’s Yew Ming Si, 7-5, 6-0, and will face Butler’sBrandon Currie tomorrow morning when play resumes. Freshman Justin Kinney defeated Louisville’s Marek Blaskovic 7-5,7-6 (4). Kinney will play the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between Iowa’s Hunter Skogman and Butler’s Brent Steven,which is set for tomorrow.
If the rain continues tomorrow morning, the tournament will move to Butler University’s indoor tennis facility.
