(Sept. 17, 2000) — University of Kentucky Tennis Cat Amy Trefethen had no trouble advancing to the qualifying round of the 2000 T. Rowe Price National Clay Court Championships in Baltimore. Trefethen will join fellow Wildcats Brooke Skeen, Carolina Mayorga, Leigh Bradwell and Sarah Witten, who all received byes into the qualifying round.

After receiving a first round bye, Trefethen breezed past her first two matches without dropping a set. The sophomore quickly defeated Jacqueline Hagen of American University, 6-2, 6-1, in the second round before notching a 6-4, 6-3 victory over Renate Barreto of Winthrop to advance to the qualifying round of 64.

The Wildcats will return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 19, in Baltimore as the next round of the Clay Court Championship begins.
