The University of Kentucky Womens Soccer team will play host to Purdue Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000 at 1 p.m. Though the Cats and the Boilermakers met this past spring in an exhibition game, they have never met during the regular season.

Kentucky went 16-3-2 last season, while Purdue notched a record of 8-11.

This will be our first test and opportunity to see how well we have progressed in the preseason, Coach Warren Lipka said. We are looking forward to stepping on the field against an opponent on Sunday.

Despite the loss of All-American Allison Peppers, the Cats return a strong squad, including Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year Keri Boyce and All-SEC selection Jen Reese. Boyce started all 21 games for the Wildcats last season and netted 30 points as a result of her 13 goals and four assists. Reese also started every game and had three goals and three assists for a total of nine points in 1999.

Leading the Boilermakers will be Tari St. John, who, in 1999, scored five goals and tallied three assists, totaling 13 points. Purdue sophomore goalkeeper Jocelyn Cavalier was named MVP for the Boilers last season and will attempt to keep the Cats shots out from between the posts.

This will be the only exhibition match for the Wildcats, who will begin regular season play at home on Aug. 25.
