LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky rifle team won its firstMid-American Conference match in its history as it defeated JacksonvilleState on Saturday.

UK beat JSU with an overall score of 6149 to 6132. The Cats got 4616points in small bore to JSU’s 4604. Kentucky’s Mary Elsass and JSU’sLucinda Roddy tied in the individual competition as they both fired a score of1173.

The Cats shot a 1533 in air rifle to beat JSU’s score of 1528. Elsass againled the Cats with 389 points in the individual air rifle competition. UK nowleads its new conference with a 1-0 record. The Cats next see action onNov. 22 when they travel to the Walsch Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
