Cats lose close match to Tigers.

CLEMSON, S.C. (Oct. 3, 1998 ) — The University of Kentucky women’s soccer team losta close match to Clemson, 3-2, on Saturday.

Clemson (7-3) scored three goals in the first half before Kentucky answered.UK’s Deanna Stayton opened the scoring for the Wildcats (3-5-2, 2-2Southeastern Conference). Stayton’s goal in the 49th minute brought theCats within two. All-SEC candidate Carrie Staber scored again for UK fourminutes later. But the Cats failed to score again, giving the Tigers a 3-2victory.

Kentucky next sees action on Friday, Oct. 9, as the Wildcats hostCincinnati.
