Hoosiers dominate the Wildcats, 5-0.
(October 21, 1998) — The University of Kentucky men’s soccer team fell 5-0 to No.1 Indiana atthe UK Soccer Complex on Wednesday.
A season-high 1,438 fans packed the Complex on the cold and rainy night tosee the battle and were left awestruck by the mighty Hoosiers. Indiana’sbalanced attack reeked havoc on the UK defense as Dema Kovalenko,Ryan Mack, Lazo Alavanja, Aleksy Korol and Eric Riply all scored goalsfor IU.
The Wildcats fought valiantly, but were unable to get a shot past IUgoalkeeper T.J. Hannig. Hannig has allowed only four goals on the seasonand lowered his NCAA-leading goals-against average to a miniscule 0.27.The top-ranked Hoosiers now move to 14-1, while UK drops to 7-8. TheWildcats take to the pitch again on Friday, when they travel to Ypsilanti,Mich., to face Eastern Michigan at 2 p.m.
