Scoreless at half, Cats rally to down E. Michigan, 2-0.
YPSILANTI, Mich. (October 24, 1998) — The University of Kentucky men’s soccer teamreturned to its winning ways on Friday, defeating Eastern Michigan 2-0 inMid-American Conference action.
The game was scoreless at the half, but in the 56th minute, Lee Bakerhammered home a loose ball in front of the net to give the Cats a 1-0 lead.Then in the 76th minute, Brent Rainey’s corner kick went in, giving UK the2-0 win.
UK dominated Eastern Michigan, holding a 17-8 shot advantage. Wildcatgoalkeeper Chris West was rarely tested and only needed two saves to postthe shutout. With the win, UK improves to 8-8, 4-1 in the MAC, whileEMU drops to 7-10-1 and 2-5 in the MAC.
The Wildcats take the pitch again on Sunday, when Bowling Green visits theUK Soccer Complex for a MAC showdown. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
