Charlie Rogers scored 14 points off the bench and Anna DeForge added 13as 15th-ranked Nebraska pulled away late to defeat Kentucky, 68-59, inthe final of the Nebraska Classic.
The Cornhuskers (6-1) led 57-55 before closing with an 11-4 spurt.DeForge hit a jumper and Cori McDill added two free throws to increasethe lead to 61-55.
Kentucky’s Natalie Martinez sank a three-pointer, but Nebraska made5-of-8 free throws before Nicole Kubik’s layup with three seconds to gocapped the run.
Each team shot 32 percent from the field. Nebraska was 23-of-71, whileKentucky was 19-of-59. The Cornhuskers held a 28-15 edge on theoffensive boards.
Nikki Hay led Kentucky (1-4) with 14 points and Laura Meadows grabbed10 rebounds.
