The Duce simply got loose against Kentucky on Saturday night, asSouth Carolina used a 22-0 second-half scoring spree to beat theWildcats, 25-14.
Duce Staley, the Gamecocks star running back, ran for 193 yardsand two touchdowns, including a 58-yarder, and the Wildcatsremained winless in the Southeastern Conference.
Kentucky owned the first half. The Wildcats scored 17second-quarter points, including a Craig Yeast 95 yard kickoffreturn for a touchdown. Freshman Derick Logans 16-yard rushingTD gave the Wildcats a 17-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Gamecocks came out in comeback form, getting on the boardfor the first time on a Staley one-yard run. The ensuing twopoint conversion was successful. Staleys 58 yard TD pulled theGamecocks within 17-15. Quarterback Anthony Wright connectedwith Corey Bridges on a 27 yard pass play to give South Carolinathe lead.
