Billy Jack Haskins and Norman Mason hooked up on their secondtouchdown of the game, a 24-yard scoring pass with 7:03remaining, to rally Kentucky past Mississippi State, 24-21.
Derick Logan rushed for 186 yards and threw a 55-yard halfbackoption pass to Craig Yeast to ignite a rally for Kentucky (3-6,2-4), who trailed 14-3 in the first half.
The Bulldogs’ Brian Hazelwood could have tied it up, but misseda 50-yard field goal with 1:26 to go. Haskins, who completed 12of 21 for 126 yards, had found Mason on a seven-yard touchdownwith just under 10 minutes to go in the third quarter to giveKentucky (3-6, 2-4) a 17-14 lead.
But Derrick Taite hit Lahitia Grant on a 19-yard scoring strikewith 1:36 left in third to give Mississippi State (3-5, 1-4) a21-14 lead. It was the second touchdown of the day for Taite,who opened the scoring when he found Terrance McCaskey fromthree yards out with at 11:07 of the first. Following a 20-yardBrian Johnson field goal, Robert Isaac scored on a one-yard runto give the Bulldogs a 14-3 second-quarter advantage.
