Louisiana State rebounded from last weeks blowout loss at thehands of Florida by beating Kentucky 41-14 as Kevin Faulk andquarterback Herb Tyler each ran for a pair of touchdowns.
Faulk ran for 138 yards for LSU (5-1, 3-1), which was beaten56-13 at top-ranked Florida last week. Kentucky fell to 1-6overall and 0-4 in the SEC East.
LSU outgained Kentucky 287-123 on the ground.
Derick Logan carried 32 times for 112 yards and a pair oftouchdowns for the. Freshman Tim Couch was just 2-of-4 for 20yards. Billy Jack Haskins was 13-of-17 for 172 yards.
Faulk scored on a 23-yard run to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead,3:30 into the game. Tyler ran 18 yards for another score,pushing the lead to 14-0 with 5:32 left in the first. Tyler ranfor 57 yards and was 11-of-18 for 144 yards passing.
Wade Richey kicked a 32-yard field goal to increase LSU’s leadto 17-0 early in the second quarter. Richey’s 54-yarder tied aschool record and gave the Tigers a 20-0 cushion with eightseconds left in the first half.
LSU took a 27-0 lead on Tyler’s one-yard plunge, 41 seconds intothe third.
“LSU dominated the game,” Kentucky coach Bill Curry said. “Theycame out and scored at will. Nobody has done that this yearexcept for Florida. Faulk is a great player. They made us misstonight, especially Faulk.”
Logan scored on a five-yard run to give Kentucky its first scoreand make the scoreboard read 27-7 with 6:57 left in the third.
The Tigers regained their 27-point advantage on a 22-yardtouchdown run with 4:20 left in the third.
Logan’s other five-yard run came 10 seconds into the finalperiod. Faulk closed the scoring with a two-yard burst with 4:37to go.
