Cats pick up fourth-consecutive win of season against Commodores.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Oct. 10, 1999) — The University of Kentuckymen’s soccer team picked up its fourth consecutive winon Sunday, blasting host Vanderbilt 3-1 in Nashville.
The Commodores struck first when VU’s Travis Weeksslipped a shot past UK keeper Brian O’Leary in the 16th minute, snappingO’Leary’s shutout streak at 285 minutes.
The Cats clawed back quickly, however, as Ryan Grady blasted an AnttiPeltonen pass into the VU net to knot the game at 1-1 in the 26th minute.
UK struck again before the break, as Ilkka Jantti punched a header past theVandy keeper in the 44th minute to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead at the half.
Just three minutes into the second stanza, UK’s Peltonen fed freshman ChrisMcDaniel for an insurance goal to push the final margin to 3-1.
With the win, UK improves to 8-3 while Vandy falls to 6-5.
UK returns to the pitch on Friday, Oct. 15, when the Cats host Buffalo in a4 p.m. MAC showdown at the UK Soccer Complex.
