LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 26, 1999) — The University of Kentuckymen’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 double-overtimeheartbreaker to Cincinnati on Sunday at the UKSoccer Complex.
UC’s Rick Wood opened scoring at 33:03 on a header and it seemed thegoal would be the game-winner, until, with just 10 seconds left, UK’s JasonBell found the back of the net at 89:50 to even the score at 1-1.
After one scoreless 15-minute overtime period, the game appeared headedfor a tie, but the Bearcats’ Myron Vaughn scored in the 116th minute toclinch the win for UC.
Cincinnati improves to 6-1-1 with the victory, while UK drops its thirdstraight to fall to 4-3.
During the match, the Cats held a 19-12 shot advantage and led UC 13-9 incorner kicks.
UK will look to get back in the win column on Friday, Oct. 1, when the Catshost Marshall in their Mid-American Conference opener. Kick off is set for7:30 p.m. at the UK Soccer Complex.
