Wildcats look for third straight victory Monday on the road.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 9, 2000) — The University of Kentuckywomen’s basketball team will travel to Gainesville,Fla. to take on the Lady Gators at 7 p.m. onMonday, Jan. 10 at UF’s O’Connell Center.

The Wildcats (9-4, 1-0 SEC) are coming off of astunning upset over No. 5 Auburn, 71-69, onThursday. Florida (10-3, 1-0) enters Monday’sgame after a 91-67 loss at No. 6 Penn State onSaturday. The Gators had an upset of their own intheir SEC opener on Thursday as they knocked offNo. 20 Mississippi State at home.

The Cats, looking for their third-straight victory, areriding the success of sophomore forward LaTonyaMcDole who has posted double-figure points in thelast five games. McDole is averaging a team-high13.1 ppg and hit the game-winning shot with fourseconds remaining against Auburn. Monday’s gamemarks the 29th meeting between Florida andKentucky. UF holds a slight 15-13 lead in theall-time series, including a 6-5 advantage whenplaying in Gainesville.

“This will be a big game for us because we arefacing one of the conference’s top teams on theirhome floor,” UK Coach Bernadette Mattox said.”We need to crash the boards hard and play goodteam defense to shut down their inside game.”These two teams split their home-and-home serieslast season with each team winning on the other’shome court. The Cats notched a 80-70 win inGainesville, while the Gators took a 77-63 win inLexington.
