Meet begins Wednesday in Durham, N.C.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Seniors Matt Kavanagh and Jeff Limpert will represent the University ofKentucky track and field squad at the 2000 NCAA Outdoor Track and FieldChampionships May 31-June 3, 2000, at Wallace Wade Stadium on the campus ofDuke University.

Kavanagh enters this year’s championships vying for his third All-Americahonor in the hammer throw. His best toss of the season, 218-03.00, ranks10th nationally and second in the Southeastern Conference. As a sophomore,Kavanagh earned his first All-American honor with an 11th place throw of209-11.00, and garnered his second in 1999 with a seventh-place heave of221-04.00, breaking the UK record.

Limpert earned a spot in the NCAA Championships with a personal-besteffort in the 800-meter run of 1:48.39. The time ranks 14th in the nationand third in the SEC, while moving him into third place on the school’sall-time top-10 list. Limpert earned All-America honors in the 800 metersat the 1999 NCAA Indoor Championships and is the UK record holder indoors.

Limpert takes the track on Thursday, May 31 in the preliminaries of the800 meters at 7:25 p.m., with the finals taking place on Friday. Kavanaghwill see action on Thursday, June 1, at 11 a.m.
