ATHENS, Ga. – Seniors Johan Hesoun and Carlos Drada were victorious in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championships on Wednesday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Hesoun defeated Sebastian Graeff of Pepperdine, 6-3, 6-4, in a straight-set victory. He will play 9-16 seed Justin O’Neal of Florida, who is ranked 10th in the nation, in the second round on Thursday.

Drada dropped the first set to Peter Luczak of Fresno State, 6-4. The Colombia native battled back in the second set to defeat the 32nd-ranked Luczak, 6-3, before winning the match in the third, 6-4. Drada will play 9-16 seed Cary Franklin of Illinois in the second round.

Tomorrow’s matches begin at 9 a.m.
