Berkeley, Calif. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team will face the Texas A&M Aggies (15-10) on Saturday, May 13, in the first round of the 2000 NCAA Championships at the Hellman Tennis Complex in Berkeley, Calif.

The 29th-ranked Cats (12-10) will face a tough Aggies squad that finished second in the Big 12 and is currently ranked 40th in the nation. UK leads the all-time series over Texas A&M 6-0. This will be the first time the two teams have squared off since 1991.

This is the fourth straight appearance for the Cats in the NCAA Tournament under coach Mark Guilbeau since his arrival in the Bluegrass in 1996. Guilbeau, who lost five letter winners off last year’s squad, brings in one of the youngest teams in the tournament with the roster boasting only one upperclassman.

The Cats and Aggies will face off at 10 a.m. with the winner advancing to take on the victor of the Saturday’s late match between host California-Berkeley and Pacific (Calif.) on Sunday.
