LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program added itsseventh newcomer with the signing of Kristin Connolly, Coach BernadetteMattox announced today.

Connolly, a 5-10 shooting guard, hails from Mercer Island,Wash., where she averaged 19.4 points, 3.6 assists and 3.2 steals pergame at Mercer Island High School. She scored 20-plus points in 12games as a senior and broke the school record by scoring a season-high447 points. She finished her career as the fourth-leading scorer inschool history with over 1,000 points.

The four-year starter was a two-time Player of the Year andfirst-team All-Conference selection. She was elected team captain andMost Valuable Player by her teammates as a junior and senior and was theSeattle Times Star of Month. She also was named MVP of the KingcoConference.

Connolly joins Se Se Helm, Stephanie Stoglin, Dasieka Hawthorne,Shambrica Jones, Alvene Mendeng and Danyelle Payne in the 2000recruiting class.
