LEXINGTON, Kty. – The Kentucky men’s tennis team will take on sixth-ranked Illinois on Thursday afternoon. The match will begin at 2 p.m. at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex on the University of Kentucky campus. Kentucky defeated Louisville on Tuesday night, 6-1, while Illinois is coming off a 5-2 victory over Michigan State.
Previously this year, the two teams tied for 11th place at USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships. Both the Fighting Illini and the Cats finished with a 1-2 record for the weekend. During the fall season, Kentucky competed in singles action with Illinois at the First Federal Invitational in Champaign, although they did not compete in a dual match.
The Cats have the edge in dual match action, leading Illinois 9-2 overall. Kentucky’s most recent victory came almost one year ago in Champaign, when the Cats defeated the then-No. 2 team in the nation, 4-3.
