ATHENS, Ga. – Freshman Marie Allen leads the Lady Kat golf team at the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic, finishing one round of play in seventh place (39-34=73). This score is a new low round for Allen, who achieved her previous low at last weekend’s Bryan National. The team is currently in 17th place.
Other Lady Kat scorers include freshman Rachel Lester, who shot an 81 in the first round, earning her 67th place. Senior Jenny Dugan and freshman Kelly Anders are tied for 78th place, shooting 83s in the first round of competition. Junior Jenny Throgmorton is currently in 91st place. She shot an 88 on the first day.
Duke University leads the team standings with Beth Bauer of Duke leading the individual race.
Play will resume Saturday morning at 8:30 at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens.
