LEXINGTON, Ky. – The UK women’s tennis team got a victory over the OhioState Buckeyes on Friday. The Cats bounced back from a recent loss to16th-ranked Vanderbilt to defeat the 33rd-ranked Buckeyes 5-4.

The Cats won four of six singles matches, getting impressive straight setwins from sophomore Lauren Rookledge and freshmen Sarah Witten and JillBuckley. 55th-ranked Brooke Skeen grabbed UK’s final singles win to givethe Cats a 4-2 edge going into doubles competition. UK clinched the matchwith an 8-1 victory from No. 3 doubles team Lauren Rookledge and JillBuckley, a team that is new to the No. 3 doubles spot and has recently beenhot with a 4-1 record this spring.

“It was really good to see us come out and play better singles,” Coach MarkGuilbeau said. “It is the first time we have had our backs against the walland come back to turn it around. It was definitely good to see that. Ourdoubles play was very disappointing though. We didn’t show any enthusiasmand that is something we have to do. To be more enthusiastic than ouropponent is our number one goal, and we didn’t do that tonight.”

The Cats will travel south to take on the 22nd-ranked Arkansas Razorbackson Sunday, March 12. The Cats will be on the road for eight consecutivematches.
