LEXINGTON, Ky. – Three Wildcats were named to the Coaches’ All-Southeastern Conference teams, and a fourth, J.P. Blevins, earned academic recognition, the league announced Tuesday.
Jamaal Magloire earned his first All-SEC honor as the Wildcats’ only first-team member. Tayshaun Prince was a second-team selection and Keith Bogans was named to the All-Freshman team in voting done by the 12 league coaches.
Magloire has led Kentucky in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots this season. The 6-10 center also led the SEC in rebounding and ranks ninth in scoring, recording a SEC-leading 14 double-doubles.
Prince is second on the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 12.9 ppg and 5.9 rpg. Bogans moved into the starting lineup after the first eight games and Kentucky won 18 of its last 22 games. The freshman from Alexandria, Va. is third on the team in scoring, averaging 11.8 ppg.
In addition, the SEC also released its Academic All-SEC awards and Blevins, a UK sophomore, was honored for his 3.82 GPA in general studies. the 6-2 guard had the highest GPA among the league honorees.
The AP All-SEC teams are set to be released on Wednesday.
