LEXINGTON, Kty. — The University of Kentucky women’s basketball team takes a breakfrom its brutal Southeastern Conference schedule to play host to instaterival Louisville tonight at 7 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum. WLXG-AM SportsRadio 1300 will provide the radio broadcast.

The Wildcats (12-12, 3-8 SEC) own an 11-game win home win streakversus the Lady Cardinals and haven’t lost in Memorial Coliseum toLouisville in 21 years. The Cats hope to get back on the winning pathafter losing to South Carolina on Sunday in Columbia.

“Louisville is a very scrappy basketball team,” UK Coach Mattoxsaid. “They are quick and physical and we have to come ready to playagainst a team like that.”

Three Cats average in double digits as LaTonya McDole and Laura Meadowslead with 11.8 points per game. Meadows also leads the Cats inrebounding, averaging 6.3 rpg.

The Lady Cardinals (15-10, 8-6 Conference USA) enter tonight’sgame after defeating South Florida, 58-48, in Tampa. Louisville iscurrently ranked second in the American Division of the C-USA behindnationally-ranked Marquette. The Lady Cards are led by All-Americancandidate Jill Morton, who averages 17.0 ppg, and senior guard AlisonBass with 10.0 ppg.

In the overall series, UK leads Louisville 26-9, including a14-2 advantage in Lexington. Kentucky met Louisville twice last seasonon the road, winning 73-62 in the first round of the Rainbow WahineClassic in Hawaii and 69-56 in Louisville. UK hasn’t played host toLouisville since a 95-62 win in 1996. The Lady Cards are 5-7 onopposing teams’ courts this season.
