ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The 22nd-ranked University of Kentucky women’s tennisteam scored another big win on Sunday, defeating the Michigan Wolverines, 6-3.The Wildcats (4-1) handed 66th-ranked Michigan (4-1) its first loss of theseason.

“It was a very competitive match. Michigan is a lot better than theirranking,” Coach Mark Guilbeau said. “Brooke (Skeen) once again playedflawless tennis. Lauren (Rookledge) was dominant, and it was great to seeher get on the winner’s board. Jill (Buckley) gave a great performance.And Carolina’s (Mayorga) win was very important because it gave us a 4-2edge going into doubles instead of a 3-3 tie.”

Both of UK’s ranked doubles teams, 13th-ranked Carolina Mayorga and SarahWitten and 30th-ranked Brooke Skeen and Leigh Bradwell, gave impressiveshowings and notched wins as well.

The tennis Cats return to the courts on Friday, February 26, when SouthCarolina travels to Lexington for a 12 p.m. match in the Hilary J. BooneIndoor Tennis Complex on the UK campus.
