AUBURN, Ala. – University of Kentucky freshman diver Clayton Moss recorded ascore of 533.65 on the 1-meter diving event to finish second overall. Moss’sscore qualified him for the 2000 NCAA Zone Diving Meet.

Juniors Macon White and Melissa Olson each scored top eight finishes Thursdayevening at the Southeastern Conference Swimming & Diving Championships.

White, a native of Huntington, W.Va., recorded a time of 4:23.15 in the500-yard freestyle to finish sixth in the championship heat. White, whorecorded a personal best time of 4:22.63 in the preliminaries, met the NCAAprovisional time standard of 4:28.57.

Olson placed seventh in the finals of the 200 individual medley, recording atime of 2:03.17. Olson’s time also met the NCAA “B” cut of 2:03.91.Junior Shaun Zitani swam the 50 freestyle in a time of 19.98 to finish eleventhoverall. Zitani’s leadoff time on the 200 freestyle relay Wednesday night,broke his existing school record and automatically qualified him for the 2000NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships.

Sophomore Carolyn Rader met the NCAA “B” cut in the 500 freestyle, winning theconsolation to finish ninth in a time of 4:48.15.

“This is a really fast meet, the fastest SEC meet that I can remember,” UKcoach Gary Conelly said. “We’re doing real well, having 60 to 70% lifetimebests today, but the competition is so good. We are in good shape Friday with alot of our best events yet to come.”
