GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Kentucky men’s golf team posted a last place finish in the 23rd annual SunTrust Gator Invitational Golf Tournament, which concluded on Sunday.
UK shot a three-round team total of 895, finishing 80 strokes behind team champion and host Florida at 815. Senior Wes Furnish led the Cats, firing a 74-72-70–216 to finish in a tie for 37th. Other UK scores include Ron Layman’s 217, John Beckett’s 226 and Pat Kelly’s 236.
Mississippi State’s Alex Rocha fired a final round of 63 to finish at 12-under par, setting a new tournament record and claiming the individual title.
UK returns to action Mar. 11-12 when it competes in the Silver Springs Invitational in Ocala, Fla.
