Threats and Kavanagh lead the way for UK.
BLACKSBURG, Va. (Feb. 11, 2000) — Shevan Threats addedherself to the list of University of Kentucky trackand field athletes who have provisionally qualifiedfor the NCAA Indoor Championships with hertriple jump Friday at the Virginia Tech KrogerInvitational.
Threats finished the women’s triple jump in thirdplace with a leap of 41-07.00 to surpass theNCAA provisional distance by 4.75 inches. Thejump was also a season best by 8.50 inches.
Matt Kavanagh continued his consistency in the35-pound weight throw as he picked up secondplace with a toss of 62-08.00. Also, in the highjump, Janet Crawford claimed sixth place with ajump of 5-08.00. Crawford’s leap tied her topseason mark established in January at the SECQuad hosted by UK and matched last week at theRod McCravy Memorial.
Action continues Saturday at 10 a.m. starting with the men’s high jump andthe women’s 4 X 800 meter relay.
