BLACKSBURG, Va. –
Shevan Threats added herself to the list of University ofKentucky track and field athletes who have provisionally qualified for theNCAA Indoor Championships with her triple jump Friday at the Virginia TechKroger Invitational.
Threats finished the women’s triple jump in third place with a leap of41-07.00 to surpass the NCAA provisional distance by 4.75 inches. The jumpwas also a season best by 8.50 inches.
Matt Kavanagh continued his consistency in the 35-pound weight throw as hepicked up second place with a toss of 62-08.00. Also, in the high jump,Janet Crawford claimed sixth place with a jump of5-08.00. Crawford’s leap tied her top season mark established in January atthe SEC Quad hosted by UK and matched last week at the Rod McCravy Memorial.
Action continues Saturday at 10 a.m. starting with the men’s high jump andthe women’s 4 X 800 meter relay.
