SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Kentucky men’s tennis team lost to the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, 5-2, on Tuesday in South Bend, Ind. No. 14 Ryan Sachire of Notre Dame defeated No. 9 Carlos Drada of Kentucky in singles action, 6-1, 6-3, to help the Irish in the victory.

The Cats lone singles victories came under Johan Grunditz and Gustav Pousette, both of whom won their matches in tiebreaker sets.

Notre Dame captured the doubles point with two wins over Drada and Reven Stephens, and Edo Bawono and Grunditz. The No. 1 doubles match between the ranked teams of Javier Taborga and Aaron Talarico of Notre Dame (No. 48) and Johan Hesoun and Pousette of Kentucky (No. 40) was abandoned once the doubles point was decided.

The Cats return home to battle Fresno State on Thursday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Boone Indoor Tennis Facility.
