LEXINGTON, Ky. – Johan Hesoun and Gustav Pousette were double victors Saturday, as the No. 48 doubles team beat Bradlee Berry and Chris Campbell of Arkansas, 8-2, at the Indiana Winter Invitational. With this victory, the duo moves to 11-5 for the year. Hesoun and Pousette also won their singles matches.
“Johan and Gustav are showing that they are among the elite in this conference,” Coach Dennis Emery said.
Hesoun and Pousette, along with Edo Bawono, were the Cats lone singles winners. Pousette was forced to three sets against Aleksey Bubis of Arkansas. After winning the first, 6-3, Bubis rebounded in the second, winning in a tiebreaker, 7-6. Pousette managed to win in the third set, also a tiebreaker, 7-6.
The Cats swept doubles action with all three doubles teams defeating the competition from Arkansas. In addition to Hesoun and Pousette’s victory, the teams of Bawono and Johan Grunditz, and Reven Stephens and Dalibor Mihajlovic won their matches.
The final day of the tournament will begin Sunday morning at 9 a.m. at the Indiana University Tennis Center in Bloomington, Ind.
