BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Carlos Drada lost a hard-fought match against the former No. 1 and 1999 NCAA National Champion Jeff Morrison of Florida in the quarterfinals of the Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships on Friday evening. Drada forced Morrison into a tie-breaker in both sets, but was defeated, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3).

“Carlos’ effort today shows just how much of a world-class talent he is,” UK Associate Head Coach Ford Lankford said. “There are not many people who will beat him when he plays as well as he did against Morrison.”

Coach Dennis Emery is with the rest of the squad at the Indiana Winter Invite in Bloomington, Ind.

Drada advanced to the quarters with a win over Rodrigo Echagaray of Kansas. Rodrigo retired due to injury in the second set after Drada took the first, 6-1.

The next action for Drada will come when the Cats return to dual match action on Feb. 8 at Notre Dame.
