LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky sophomore Souleymane “Jules” Camara will miss the next 2-4 weeks with an injured right foot, Coach Tubby Smith announced late this afternoon.
Camara, a 6-11 forward, has been diagnosed with a “stress reaction” in his right foot, according to UK athletics trainer David Kindy. It occurred when a Tennessee player stepped on his foot during the game on Tuesday.
“Anytime you lose a key player for a game it’s always tough, especially when we only have 10 eligible players,” Smith said. “But we’ll monitor his progress and hopefully he’ll be back real soon. Until then, we’ll expect others, like Marvin Stone, to step in and fill the void.”
Camara has played in all 21 games this season, logging 20.0 minutes per contest. He’s averaging 7.4 ppg and 4.5 rpg this season, but in conference play, has averaged 8.3 ppg and 6.1 rpg while shooting 65.8 percent from the field.
