LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky men’s tennis team will compete at the IU Winter Invite, Feb. 3-6, while senior Carlos Drada competes at the Rolex National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in Dallas, Feb. 2-6.
The Cats opened their dual match season with wins over intrastate rivals Eastern Kentucky, 6-1, and Western Kentucky, 5-2, on Jan. 26.
“We play in the Indiana Indoors every year,” Coach Dennis Emery said. “I feel like it gives us good match play before heading into the dual match season.”
Drada, currently ranked No. 9, will travel to compete against the top players in the nation. With this tournament, he will have competed in three of the four legs of the ITA Grand Slam, the fourth being the NCAA Championships in May.
“It was one of Carlos’s goals to qualify for the main draw in each of the Grand Slam tournaments,” Emery said. “It’s a great honor for him to be ranked No. 9 in the country.”
