Three Kentucky distance runners set season best marks in first day of competition.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 29, 2000) — Three UK distance runners set season best marks Saturday in the first dayof competition at the Boston University Terrier Classic.
Hunter Spencer finished sixth in the one-mile run in a time of 4:14.29while his teammate Thomas Morgan ran just behind him in 4.15.45. Spencertopped his previous season best by nearly eight seconds. Morgan cut overthree seconds off his best time.
In the 3000-meter run, Kevin O’Connor crossed the finish line in 8:52.85,nearly six seconds faster than his previous best mark set on Jan. 22.
The UK women take the track Sunday, Jan. 30 with entries in the 200meters, 400 meters and 800 meters, and the men will finish up competitionin the distance medley relay.
