The University of Kentucky men’s tennis team gets the 2000 dual match season underway on Wednesday, Jan. 26, when the Cats take on Eastern Kentucky and Western Kentucky at the Hilary J. Boone Indoor Tennis Center. The Cats will take on the EKU Colonels in an afternoon match at 1 p.m., and return to the Boone Center for a prime-time match against the WKU Hilltoppers at 7 p.m.
“These matches will be a great way for our fans to catch a glimpse of how talented our team is this season,” UK Coach Dennis Emery said. “We have a top-ten ranked player in Carlos Drada (No. 9) and a very competitively balanced team. We will be exciting to watch.”
The Cats are coming off of a respectable performance at last weekend’s SEC Indoor Championships. UK placed a conference-high five players in the second round of the singles draw, while the doubles team of Edo Bawono and Reven Stephens advanced to the quarterfinals.
Tomorrow’s matches mark the beginning of UK’s 78th dual-match season, with the Eastern Kentucky match being the 1,400th dual match in school history.
