Tuscaloosa, Ala. – The University of Kentucky doubles tandem of Edo Bawono and Reven Stephens advanced to the quarterfinals of the Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships on Sunday before losing, 8-2, to the tournament’s second seed, Stephen Huss and Mark Kovacs of Auburn.

The UK duo earned its berth in the round of eight earlier in the day with a 9-7 win over Vikrant Chada and James Shorthall of Ole Miss.

“It is just great what Edo and Reven have been able to do,” UK coach Dennis Emery said. “They beat a really great team in Chada and Shortall, one that has done well against some great competition this year. Our guys played well.”

The Cats will begin their dual match season this Wednesday, Jan. 26, when they host Eastern and Western Kentucky at the Hilary J. Boone Indoor Tennis Center.
