Andrew Vander Wagen hits seven-foot mark, places second in high jump competition.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 22, 2000) — Junior Andrew Vander Wagen finished second in the high jump competition after achieving a season best jump of 7-00.25 at the SEC Quad at Nutter Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 22. Vander Wagen’s previous best was two inches less, 6-10.25, which he achieved at both of the two previous meets.

Freshman Hunter Spencer won the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.12. It was the first time Spencer competed in the event. Also winning was freshman Simidele Adeagbo in the triple jump. Kentucky swept that event having Adeagbo, junior Shevan Threats and junior Falana Greenwell capturing the top three positions.

In addition to Threat’s second place finish in the triple jump, she also finished second in the 200-meter dash and anchored the third place 4×400-relay team. Threats also won the long jump competition on Friday night.

The track and field teams will travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., to compete in the Air Force Invitational on Jan. 28-29.
