LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) – Back in the AP poll at No. 25, Kentucky seeks its fifth straight victoryWednesday night when it meets Georgia Tech at Louisville’s Freedom Hall.
Kentucky (8-4), in its final test before Southeastern Conference play, hasrebounded with four straight wins after losing four of five and dropping out ofthe poll.
Center Jamaal Magloire continued his stellar play with 21 points and 13rebounds in a 70-53 victory over Missouri on Thursday.
Magloire became the first Wildcat to record four straight double-doublessince Reggie Hanson in 1990. Named SEC player of the week, Magloire isaveraging 15.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in the last five games.
Kentucky is receiving solid play from a pair of sophomores. Tayshaun Princeis the team’s leading scorer at 13.8 points per game, while guard J.P. Blevinstallied a career-high 13 points against Missouri in his first start.
Kentucky begins SEC play against Vanderbilt on Saturday at Rupp Arena.
The Wildcats have won five straight meetings against Georgia Tech and sevenof eight. Kentucky leads the all-time series 55-14, including a 5-0 mark inLouisville.
Georgia Tech (7-4) posted its fourth straight victory, 75-64 over Lafayetteon Sunday. Junior guard Shaun Fein hit 6-of-9 from 3-point range and finishedwith a season-high 24 points, but coach Bobby Cremins knows the rest of histeam has to play better to upset the Wildcats.
“Kentucky is a great program, they play hard,” Cremins said. “We have tobe ready. We can’t afford to play like we did in the second half Sunday.”
The Yellow Jackets are an impressive 21-of-44 (48 percent) from 3-pointrange in their last two games.
Senior forward Jason Collier is second in the Atlantic Coast Conference with18.8 points and leads the conference with 9.5 rebounds per game.
