The University of Kentucky rifle team continued their streak of excellence in competition by finishing sixth at the NCAA Championships. This marks the sixth time in six seasons that the Cats have made a top six finish in the championships.

Led by four-time All-American Mary Elsass, the Cats claimed an impressive 72 wins in smallbore competition while notching 84 victories in air rifle. While Elsass is the only shooter to ever attain the four-time All-American status in both guns at Kentucky, several other Cats were named All-American this year. Along with Elsass, senior David Fowler achieved this coveted honor in smallbore, while senior Jill Krukoski joined Elsass in air rifle.

At the 1999 NCAA Championships, Elsass finished third in smallbore and fourth in air rifle, while junior Jennifer Harrison finished eighth in air rifle.
