Senior women’s soccer sweeper Allison Peppers chosen to All-American third team.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 17, 1999) — Senior sweeper AllisonPeppers and freshman forward Keri Boyce werehonored by Soccer Buzz on Friday. Peppers wasnamed third-team All-American and Boycereceived honorable mention honors. Boyce wasalso named first-team Freshman All-American bySoccer Buzz.

UK coach Warren Lipka was named the 1999Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year by SoccerBuzz, while Peppers was named the Great LakesRegion Defensive Player of the Year. The Catsfinished with the best record in school history at16-3-2 and ranked 16th in the top 25.

Annie Gage and Boyce, along with Peppers, werenamed to Soccer Buzz’s Great Lakes All-Regionfirst team. Midfielder Jen Reese was a second-teamselection. The Cats’ three first-team selections tiednational runner-up Notre Dame for the most playerson the first team.

Peppers, who was named second-teamAll-American by the NSCAA last week, is atwo-time All-Southeastern Conference performerand was the backbone of UK’s defense thatallowed just 22 goals this season. The WestChester, Ohio native was a four-year starter for theCats and is second all-time in school history forgames started. Peppers was named honorablemention All-American by College Soccer Online onWednesday.

Gage, a native of Westerville, Ohio, brokesingle-season records for goals (15), points (39), and shots (71). Thesophomore forward was a first-team All-SEC selection after redshirting the1998 season due to a torn ACL.

Boyce, was one of three freshmen named to the first-team, and was namedthe 1999 SEC Freshman of the Year. The Birdsboro, Pa., native was asecond-team All-SEC pick and was named the National Player of the Weekby Soccer Times (Oct. 25-31).
