University of Kentucky freshman forward Keri Boyce has been named theNational Player of the Week by Soccer Times, the magazine announced today.
This is the first time in the program’s eight-year history that a UKplayer has been named National Player of the Week. On Monday, Boyce wasnamed the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, the second time thisseason she has received the award.
The Birdsboro, Pa. native, scored the game-winning goal in both of UK’s(16-2-1) two victories over the weekend, breaking the UK school record forgame-winning goals in a season with six. In the Cats’ 2-0 win overMinnesota on Friday, Boyce scored her 11th goal of the season to defeat theGolden Gophers. On Sunday against 19th-ranked Michigan, Boyce broke ascoreless tie in double-overtime at the 112:07 mark, giving the Cats their15th straight win.
