DEKALB, Ill. (Oct. 29, 1999) — The University of Kentuckysuffered a disappointing road loss to NorthernIllinois on Friday, falling 4-2 to the Huskies inDeKalb.
NIU’s Dan Parisi opened the scoring at 3:42 to givethe Huskies the early lead. UK immediatelyresponded, as Jason Bell rocketed in a 20-yardshot to even the score.
The Cats then pulled ahead on a Brent Rainey goalin the 36th minute, but the Huskies came right backand tallied a goal less than two minutes later, at36:55, when Robby Berkely netted an eight-yarder.Berkley struck again at 78:00 before Igor Dubakclosed out the scoring at 87:14.
With the loss, UK falls into second place in theMid-American Conference with a 4-1-1conference mark and drops to 9-6-1 overall. NIUimproves to 10-8, 3-4 in the MAC.
UK looks to return to its winning ways on Sunday,when the Cats travel to face Western Michigan intheir regular-season finale at 1 p.m.
