DEKALB, Ill. – The University of Kentucky suffered a disappointing road loss to NorthernIllinois on Friday, falling 4-2 to the Huskies in DeKalb.
NIU’s Dan Parisi opened the scoring at 3:42 to give the Huskies the earlylead. UK immediately responded, as Jason Bell rocketed in a 20-yard shot toeven the score.
The Cats then pulled ahead on a Brent Rainey goal in the 36th minute, butthe Huskies came right back and tallied a goal less than two minutes later,at 36:55, when Robby Berkely netted an eight-yarder. Berkley struck againat 78:00 before Igor Dubak closed out the scoring at 87:14.
With the loss, UK falls into second place in the Mid-American Conferencewith a 4-1-1 conference mark and drops to 9-6-1 overall. NIU improves to10-8, 3-4 in the MAC.
UK looks to return to its winning ways on Sunday, when the Cats travel toface Western Michigan in their regular-season finale at 1 p.m.
