LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Lady Kat golf team finished the first round of the Lady Paladin Invitational in 15th place on Friday. They shot a team total of 325, 30 points behind first place Wake Forest. Maria Beautell of Wake Forest is currently in the lead, shooting a 2-under-par 72 in the first round.

Freshman Rachel Lester and senior Jenny Dugan are tied for 45th place after shooting 8-over-par 80s on the first day. Lester shot a 40 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine as well. Dugan shot a 37 on the front and a 43 on the back.

The remaining Lady Kats are all within four strokes of Lester and Dugan. In her fourth tournament of the fall season, freshman Marie Allen finished the first round in 56th place. Allen shot a 9-over-par 81 on the first day. Towa Okiyama and Kristen Pepe are tied for 86th place, both shooting 84s in the first round.

Action continues at the Furman University Golf Course on Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m.
