Dougie Allen Out for the Season: Following an MRI test today, itis confirmed that sophomore wide receiver Dougie Allen is out for theseason with a torn posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Allen will have reconstructive surgery in 2-3 weeks. If allgoes well, he will be able to run by the spring and participate in thenon-contact portions of spring practice. His playing status for the2000 season will be decided in August.
Allen is Kentucky’s second-leading receiver during the 1999season with 25 catches for 263 yards and three touchdowns. He leads theSEC and ranks eighth nationally in kickoff returns with a 30.8-yardaverage.
South Carolina Game to be Offered on Live Pay-Per-View: TheKentucky at South Carolina football game on Oct. 9 was not selected bythe television networks for live telecast, but will be offered on livepay-per-view by Sports Communications, Inc., of Lexington.
Viewers wishing to buy the live pay-per-view telecast must do sothrough their local cable company. Viewers should contact their localcable company for additional information.
The Kentucky at South Carolina game will kick off at 1 p.m. inColumbia’s Williams-Brice Stadium. Rob Bromley and Dave Baker will callthe action.
South Carolina Game Also Carried on Delayed Basis: The Kentuckyat South Carolina game also will be carried on a delayed basis by theoutlets on the UKTV Network. Most of the UKTV Network outlets show thegame at 11:30 p.m. EDT, but viewers should check their local listingsfor the time and station in their area. Rob Bromley and Dave Baker willbe the announcers for the delayed broadcast.
Louisiana State Game Televised by Jefferson-Pilot: The LouisianaState at Kentucky football game on Oct. 16 has been selected for liveregional telecast by Jefferson-Pilot Sports. Game time moves to 12:30p.m. EDT.
This will be Kentucky’s fourth live regional or nationaltelecast of the season, joining the Louisville (Fox Sports Net South),Indiana (ESPN), and Florida (ESPN) games. Other games could be selectedas the season progresses. The Nov. 4 game at Mississippi State alreadyhas been chosen by ESPN.
