The University of Kentucky cross country teams competed at the CommodoreClassic in Nashville, Tenn., Saturday, Sept. 18. The race took place atPercy Warner Park, which will play host to the 1999 SEC Cross CountryChampionships on Oct. 30.

The men?s team took home fifth place, with Kevin O?Connor leading theWildcats, finishing in tenth place. The women?s team finished ninth. Theteams from Georgia won both the men?s and women?s competition.O?Connor, who won his first collegiate cross country meet on Sept. 4 atthe Woodford Cross Country Trials, ran his first 8,000-meter race in26:58.77. Hunter Spencer, also a freshman, finished in 13th-place, runningthe 8K in 27:19.08.

Liz Attig led the women?s team, finishing the 5,000-meter run in 19:37.41. The Kentucky Wildcats will compete in their next meet on Oct. 2 in Chicagoat the Lakefront Invitational.
