LEXINGTON, Kty. – University of Kentucky midfielder Lee Baker has been named Mid-AmericanConference Player of the Week, the MAC office announced Tuesday.
Baker, a senior from Spring, Texas, tied a school record on Sept. 12,assisting on all three goals in UK’s 3-0 win over UNC Asheville. He now hassix assists in three games and is already nearing UK’s single-season assistrecord of 10.
“Lee’s passing has been outstanding this season,” UK Coach Ian Collinssaid. “He has great vision on the field and has been able to hit ourstrikers for some big goals.”
This is Baker’s second MAC Player of the Week honor during his career. Healso was selected by the conference last season, earning honors for theweek of Oct. 27.
With Baker’s help, the unbeaten Cats are 3-0 in 1999 and have moved up tosixth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s Great LakesRegional Poll also released this week.
