LEXINGTON, Ky. – Two rainstorms shortened theKentucky football practice Thursday afternoon at the Nutter TrainingCenter. All totaled, the Wildcats were on the field approximately 90minutes of the scheduled two-hour workout.
After practice, Coach Hal Mumme spoke positively regardingjunior defensive backs Willie Gary and Jeremy Bowie, who are possibleredshirt candidates while they rehabilitate injuries. Gary has been thefirst-team free safety and Bowie is the top reserve at cornerback.
“They’re meeting our expectations so far,” Mumme said. “We’vebeen encouraged by what we’ve seen.”
Mumme also talked about the play of the Wildcats cornerbacks.
“The cornerbacks have improved a lot,” Mumme said. “Eric Kellyhas played particularly well lately. We’ve had a hard time getting awayfrom him. Kenneth Grant has only been playing the position a year andhe’s come a long way.”
The Wildcats return to the practice field Friday with practicesat 10 a.m., 3 p.m., and 8:30 p.m.
