LEXINGTON, Ky. – Four gymnasts at the University of Kentucky were named Academic All-Americans Thursday by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches for Women. Seniors Mila Chitwood and Krissy Hoeferlin and sophomores Jessie Lemp and Katie Toups were recognized for their academic achievements.

To be eligible for the honor, a gymnast must have a 3.5 GPA for either the current academic year or cumulatively and must be an active member of her team. This marks the second consecutive year that Chitwood and Hoeferlin have been recognized. In the past 10 years, more than 20 gymnasts from the University of Kentucky have been given this prestigious honor.

“This brings tremendous recognition to our program,” Head Coach Leah Little said. “To have half of our team receive Academic All-American honors really helps establish an emphasis on academics within our program.”Chitwood and Hoeferlin were also named to the 1999 SEC Gymnastics Academic Honor Roll.
